Default turbo

so guys...i was thinkin about puttin a turbo on my truck(2000 4.7L dakota) does anyone know how many psi the stock internals can hold?? also what size turbo would be the best?!? and do i haveto change the compression? i did a search...but couldnt find anything that helped me! thanks!

4.7s no idea but i know with a S/C you can run 8psi easy.

yea...but s/c are a little to expensive...i can get a the turbo on for about $1000 installed...maybe cheaper...depending on the turbo i get! thanks for your help though

I would stay at about 7-8 psi. nothing above that.... unless you do internals

I wouldnt go above 6psi just to be safe. Anything more I'd have the motor rebuilt with a point lower compression ratio and make sure teh rods are crack free.

Where the hell are you getting a turbo installed for under $1000? Hell a good turbo unit will cost more than that alone.

ok thanks...it might be a litt;e more than $1000 or a little less...i havnt added up everything yet....the reason so cheap...lets just say a few people owe me a few favors!

6 psi sounds about right. I know people than run 8 psi on their 5.9's and have no issues, but I would play it safe.

I ran 8 psi on a 5.2 with 140,000+ miles.(procharger) I'm building a 5.9 with 9:5:1 compression so I'm only going to run 5-6psi. I just got a new garrett turbo and 2 new rear Z06 tires. I don't have a clue how to fabricate the turbo on there....and I really don't feel like spending a ton of $$ on it.
