Default Real World Data on Gas Mileage

I have been tracking gas mileage pretty closely on my2001 4.7L 4x4 Quad the last couple of months. I started doing some experimenting to see different effects of specific changes on my overall gas mileage. Note that, for whatever reason, I seem to be getting worse gas mileage than others on this forum. But here's some data for you. I basically made two changes over the course of the last month, noting average changes in gas mileage with each change. My driving habits have not changed over the last few months - basically a mix of city driving (70%) and highway driving (30%):

Before any changes: 13.3 MPG (tracked over many months, countless tanks of fuel)
After running a tankof gas with a can of STP Fuel Injector Cleaner: 13.7 MPG (avg over six weeks, about six tanks)
After removing and cleaning throttle body: 14.7 MPG (avg over three weeks, three tanks)

Note that I had a lot of problems with my idle surging, especially with the AC on. After I cleaned the throttle body and whatever sensor it is that is connected to it, I noticed my idle problem cleared up completely and saw my gas mileage improve by 1 MPG.

you can buy it at napa and you pour it down your brake booster line slowly while idling. it cleans out the inside of your engine pretty good.

how many miles do you have on your truck? i average about 14.5-14.7 mpg, mostly city driving. i have a 2003 quad cab 4wd (awd) 4.7, automatic with 30,000 miles, i have removed clutch fan and replaced resonator with a 3" tube running to the factory airbox with flat k&n filter. i was hoping to get a little more mpg. think truck was parked alot because of the low miles. i have a funky idle mostly when cold, even before all the " changes ".
i tried to clean the i.a.c. motor, but still idles funny. runs great when driving, no miss, or hesatation.

you can also use sea foam in your oil, and gas,

i just bought 3 cans today, put 1/3 of one in my Intake, 7qts in my oil, and about 20qts in my gastank, ran it for about 10 min, then turned it off to let it sit, then started it back up, smoke a little bit and then it went away... im in the process of changing my oil now as i speak.. its draining outside, and hopefully when i get done with that ill still have some sun left, to clean my TB and sensors, also just flushed my dif it was bad!

Everything is synthetic in my truck now, royal purple, and Mopar ATF
