Default Best investment

What would be the best investment for a 4.7? I have an 02 and don't have a whole lot of money for it seeing im in college but want to upgrade it a little bit. I would love to have an exhaust, CAI, ect, ect. But Im thinking about getting a tuner.

How many people have gotten a tuner for their 4.7 and how much more power are they making? What about gas milage? Can I still run 87? I know some people said it would ping if running 87 and I dont really wanna run 91 or 93.

Any other suggestions for good mods. A better TB?

there are programmable tuners out there, you can run 87 all you want, but if you want power you can go with 93, just change the tune

CAI that is from ebay is a good bet, even with no exhaust it sounds epic at the 3000-3300 rpms here is a pic of mine:

i'd say a tuner or a cat back. IMO. the best cure for the 4.7 blues is a 5.9

Hey Bryant, good call on the CAI, do you have any mounting brackets on that thing? Im trying to find spots to rig a good bracket but am having trouble.

Oh and on top of the CAI, I am starting to think a nice "throaty" exhaust is a great investment.

jim i do not have any mounting brackets per say, it holds itslef up on its own (i guess due to the tightness from where it connects to the TB assembly.

Honestly I rather have a manual 4.7 than a 5.9 w/ the worst tranny ever made lol. A 1/4 of that power goes right down the sh!ter with that auto.

get a tuner even on 93 you'll get 1-2 mpg better so it somewhat offsets itself. exhaust is also a good option and removing the clutch fan is a free 5-7 hp.
