I have a 2002 dakota with the 4.7 automatic. Gonna try an engine swap, I have an older model carburated 360. Has anyone atempted it before, who might have some advice? How difficult will it be? Any advice or info would be helpful.
gonna have to replace the tranny... the 45RE is only good for the 3.7 and 4.7
also why would you want to go back to carburation? fuel injection IMO is a million times easier and better...
if I were you, i would put the money into swapping in a 5.7 (hemi the new one) or supercharge/cams/etc your 4.7 so that you have the benefits of fuel injection (like easier tunning and gas mileage)
actually bryant, carbed is much easier for a swap, easier to tune, dont need to integrate computers, easier to beef up, plus you can twin carb it and get that much more power
but id agree, need a new tranny that'll bolt up and handle the power
The truck does'nt have the 4.7 anymore. I found the 360 for $150 and it comes with the tranny. So, I figured low money to start the more for later!!!Will the the motor mounts work or will I have to fab new ones?
