so i'm pondering the idea of selling my truck so i could buy a '96 tacoma ext cab v6 4x4
about 80,000 miles manual
i just like the idea of 4 wheel drive and hope i could get about the same mileage or a little better
basically i need ya'll to convince me not to do

well it's already been bought over here once so it would be used. the guy i would be buying it from would be getting a new f150 so in a way i would be helping out america
plus a dakota 4x4 mpg would be worse

He's probably asking the same that I paid for my truck. And if you're conserned about mpg, the 5 speed 4.7's do quite well actually. I get 20-21 on the highway. And I know others do the same. I bet you really won't do anybetter with that little v6 that has no power.
I looked it up and they make 190hp/220tq and get 19 mpg ave. The 4.7's have 235hp/295tq and I get about 17.5-18 all around mpg. So do you really want that truck for an extra mpg??

Hey Id love a toyota! But I could NEVER part with my truck. If the motor problems are nasty and its not worth me fixing Ill be researching a cummins and dumping my bimmer
Dont flame him for the yota, Tacomas are engineered, researched and built in America! So you are helping Americas, period. I have def become a mopar man but if you look in my sig I have 2 imports too. Nothing wrong with imports, Americans are still employed to get them in the US and on the road.
Honestly Id rather get my kota to 110% than replace it. My subby is just my DD at the moment so I can get my kota done

my 4x4 3.9 get about 20.5mpg. The EPA lies but at least it lies consistently. My truck shouldnt get much better than 17- 18 on the highway.
And yes maintenance done 100% with quality product on time is key to anything!
