All gas may be the same and come from the same refineries. The difference is in the additive packs that the different companies put in that gas. Texaco and Chevron both use Techron, Texaco used to call it Techroline but it's the same thing. Gas with Techron is said to perform better than the other gas brands available. The Techron in the gas is only about 10% of the strength of the Techron Fuel System Treatments you can buy at the parts store, but as fuel additives go a lot of people say it is the best. The additive in Shell gas is very similar to the Techron add pack in Chevron and Texaco gas. But the Shell V-Power additive you can buy at the parts store is nowhere near as good as Techron, and it's not the same formulation as what Shell adds to their gas.

I have tried and experimented with the different brands of gas and for me, there is a definite difference in both MPG and performance between them. My truck ran like crap and had a noticeable lack of power on Amoco/BP. It only took one tank of that and I have stayed away from it ever since. Race Track/Race Way and Cumberland Farms gas all goes through my tank like grease through a goose, the MPG was way down on those. I get the best results with Chevron/Texaco and Texaco is usually a few pennies cheaper. I get about the same on Shell. The Sunoco station near my house is always cheapest here in my town and my truck runs well on it.

As far as MMO goes, no I am not an MMO salesman. I do like to pass the info along to others when the subject of gas quality and/or fuel economy and performance comes up. MMO works for me and it may or may not work as well for others. A lot of the people I know have tried it like it and got good results from it.

me too to be honest, if you pay attention when the tankers are there delivering fuel, even the no-name stations have a brand name tanker making the deliveries, its just a matter of which one, the only exception is that i wont go to a hess station, they put WAYYYYYY too much ethanol (i assume) in their gas, in fact if i see a sticker which states there is ethanol i will keep on rolling past the pump since afaik its a state law to label pumps which have ethanol in them

Sunoco has 91 octane for $3.00 a gallon now,if i don't put the premium in and i hit the passing gear my truck pings even with new plugs wires and the timing done. My mechanic says with the high mileage this happens to alot of vehicles.
