need info on 4.7 to 5.2 swap

Default need info on 4.7 to 5.2 swap

just wanted to see if any one could tell me what needs to be changed in my 2001 dodge dakota if i was to go from a 4.7 toa 5.2 or 5.9 , things like the wiring harness and the computer. Any info would be great

You would need the harness, motor mounts and engine obviously.

Why are you swapping out the 4.7 for a 5.2? You realize they make almost idnetical power? Not really wroth the work to have the same power.

Default 4.7

5.2 is a good engine and 4.7 is the worse pos dodge ever made why they took a engine that was a excellent engine and replaced it with that pos 5.2 liter a 300,000 to 600,000 mile engine 4.7 liter if you get a 100,000 out of that engine your lucky

The 5.2 is the most dependable thing on the planet. If dodge would have put a wiring system and anything that might have squirted gas in them and made there trans with a big neon sign saying check in neutral every dodge with a 5.2 would still be on the road lol

Sorry just our opinion but the 4.7 has a use. In Texas they call that a trotline weight!

318-1with a good carb and exhaust is prob still running in a test lab somewhere underneath the ground in Detroit. With a gm alt and HEI ignition! lol

We have folks with over 300K miles on their 4.7, with no major work. It's all in how well you take care of it.
