I found one in East Chicago a few days ago and drove three hours each way to go get it. There are differences so I want to make sure the one I got is going to work before I fight it into the truck. I'll see if I can figure out how to put pictures with this so you can see what I see.
Is the one year only thing true? And if they both are from the same truck the same year can they be different? I feel like I got screwed in Chicago but I need to know for sure before I start yelling at them.
I can't upload anything. Every picture I take it says the file is too big and it says I can't upload the video. Do you have an email or phone number? You can text me at (517)512-3846 if that helps
Host your pics/vids somewhere else, then link to them here. That actually works. (and saves us on hosting space....) Imageshack, or I think even dropbox will work.

I'm mentally disabled when it comes to computers and technology. I was born a hundred years later than I should have been. So I don't know how to do that stuff. Is there like a caveman ability level to get pictures and videos to you? Because I'm pretty sure I'm dumber than a caveman when it comes to technology. Normally I would hand my kids my phone and say let me know when it's done. But my son just left for boot camp a couple weeks ago and my daughter isn't home and probably won't be for a few hours. Honestly I surprised myself just getting this far in here

Those are the same trans, just slighly different revisions. (AB vs AA) I show them fitting 00-02 vehicles. They were used in just about anything that was 2wd, and drove the rear wheels. So, trucks, vans, etc.

They have a few differences and a couple of them look like they are going to affect installing the new one.
Is there any truth to the one year only thing

I've never heard that one before.

What differences? Some may be significant, others, not so much.

Some of the mounts are different, just need to change 'em over. Rear output seal appears to be different as well, just get the right one for your vehicle, and install it. Bracket on side of trans looks like it had a bad experience on one the transmissions. Just use the one from your vehicle. Not sure what we are looking at on the torque converter end of the trans. One of 'em still has the stud for the starter installed, and the other does not, but, that's all I see really.

Look at the bottom center. There's a notch cut out of the one I took out of my truck and no notch on the new one. And the right side of the housing is different.
and it looks like there's an extra hole where that stud is still in the bad transmission
