2000 5.9l V8 engine?
My truck has been having an issue for the last few months. About 4 times a week the engine just turns off while I am driving. After it does this I pull off to the side of the road, put it in park and re-start it with no problems. I have had it to 3 separate mechanics including the dealer. After $4,800 in fixes it still is doing it. Now none of them can find anything wrong with the truck and since it only does it randomly, none of them have had the pleasure of experiencing the issue. Any ideas would be helpful.
They replaced a pulley they said could be setting off the knock sensor, ran tests on the fuel system, put it on the code reader which every time came up with no codes. and because it was in the shops, they replaced cv's front diff, rack and pinnion, and had the tranny serviced.

Even tho we cant visually help you with your truck we are way better than taking it to a dealer. I really wish you had something in writing saying about the knock sensor cause i would raise hell about it. What has been all replaced?
I understand that there is no knock sensor, When the truck dies on me, I am usually going between 35 and 45 mph. and the engine just dies. There is no warning or anything, it just dies. But when I get pulled over and stopped, it starts right back up. And sometimes when i am at a stop light for a while, the rpms will dive really low, and it almost dies,

Start with the basics, check all wiring harnesses. Are the connectors tight on the PCM? Ignition coil?
I'm assuming since it "just dies" that its more likely ignition than fuel.
How about possibly having a bad PCM? It can do just what you're experiencing, so could a bad ignition coil. Either one heats up in use and a connection can open.
