Default A/C Troubleshooting

Well since its that time of the year, I went to use my A/c and well got nothing.. So i checked the system pressure. Good. Tried unplugging the sensors and just jumping them with a wire, still nothing. checked relay. good. checked fuse.. good. noticed that i couldnt get the compressor to come on or here the click for it to come.. Turned on my defroster... Compressor comes on every 5-10 secs.. turn it to max A/c... compressor wont come on... turn it to regular a/c.. compressor comes on but no cold air.. any ideas??

What are the pressures? Is the clutch actually engaging? You can see the clutch plate spin?

The max a/c issue may be the switch.

Start with the basics.

Get a gauge set and get BOTH pressures. It's the only way to know if there is a blockage in the system or if the compressor is bad, etc.

Does it seem like the blend doors are working? Carefully put your hand on the lines coming from the evaporator. One should be hot and the other cool.

Yes, both the high and low pressures. You really can't diagnose the system without both pressures.

I'm not trying to sound like a jerk but without any information we can't help you fix it.

Some part stores will rent tools.

"In the green" doesn't mean anything. Most of those "home kits" connect to the low pressure side not the high.

Sounds right. They might have moved a bit over the years.

They are different sized so you can't hook them up wrong.
