P0700 only indicates that there is a transmission code present. You need to get it read by a dealer or a shop. A regular code reader won't do it.
From the FSM:
This SBEC III or JTEC DTC indicates that the EATX or Aisin controller has an active fault and has illuminated the MIL via a CCD (EATX) or SCI (Aisin) message. The specific fault must be acquired from the EATX via CCD or from the Aisin via ISO-9141.
did you see anything for the 0230 code? The reference I said lift pump activation fault, but a dakota never came with a diesel....unless all tank-side fuels pumps are called lift pumps now?
i did see the 0230 code in the chilton, and it says fuel pump primary circuit malfunction.. it does have a new fuel pump.. im am really hoping its just an o2 sensor
All I have on the P0230 is the lift pump circuits.
How does the engine run when the check engine light comes on? Hard shifting and stuck in "2nd or 3rd" is transmission related - the P0700 code. Double check your connections to the PCM and transmission.
The engine runs good even when the light comes on.. When the tranny problem happens it usually lasts for one start then after a drive it runs fine again.. I will check the connections..
stuck in 2 nd is limp mode for the trans. you need to find out what it is going on with the trans. limp mode will reset every key cycle until it fault again. we need the actual trans. code to point you in the right direction
