Default Dodge Dakota 2000 door locks

I have a Dodge Dakota 2000 4.7 V8. The doors lock and unlock using the remote only. The door switches do not work the locks and the locks do not come on when the vehicle begins to move. If I want them locked when inside, I have to press the remote again. When I stop the vehicle and switch off the engine, they do not unlock either.
It seems that maybe a relay is not working but I dont know where it would be? Can anyone suggest what the problem might be and where the problem parts are located?
Thanks.

How long have you had the truck?
Is this a new problem?
Are you using the factory remote?
Two door or 4? The reason I ask is do any of the switches work on any door?
Power windows? Do those switches work?

This is standard...Nothing broken here.

This can be changed (I can't remember how but will look it up)...Maybe the root of the problem. That's why I asked the questions at the top...Need more history of how long this has been going on.

I have just bought the truck, so I have no history of it. It is a 4 door and none of the switches work to lock or unlock the doors but the lights are illuminated on them. It is the factory remote I am using. The power windows work fine.

Check fuse 13 in the junction block - open the drivers door and you'll see the access panel. The CTM does the locking/unlocking but this fuse powers the "sense" circuits for the door switches.

It's a 20 amp.

My Chilton only covers 2001-04...I'm sure their similar.

Try this to eanable/disable the rolling lock feature. - Key on..off...on...off...Then hit lock? Try it on the door or remote and see if anything changes.

I don't think there's a relay just for the locks...It's probably shared with something else.

I found the wiring diagram for your truck in my book. 00DakDan is right about the fuse but my lock switches still worked after I pulled the fuse. The book does show a driver unlock relay, I just don't know where it's located. The locking system is wired to the CTM (central timer module), but I would think that if it was bad the locks wouldn't work at all? I removed the switch panel from the driver's door and unplugged the switch. Then I tried the passenger lock switch and it worked, so it works independently from the driver's switch. Sometimes the driver's side is the master switch. I'm stumped, we need to find the relay... Anyone know where it's located?

Thanks Custer. Yes, I've tried that and it is not the fuse. All fuses work on the truck. I believe it will be the relay, but if its not working, it wont click so I cant find it. There are some located at the other side of the access panel and accessable near the steering column but if they dont work, I dont know if it is one of them or not.

Under the dash, attached to the back side of the junction block where the fuse is, you'll find another fuse/relay block. The relay is there. It's a pain to see the block.

Have you tried the door locks from another door? In case it's a bad switch.
