are you saying it's hard with engine off and goes to the floor with it running (which is what mine does)? Or is it hard and goes to the floor if you stand on it (engine on/off?)

Engine off, or vacuum line disconnected, a hard pedal is normal. You won't have the vacuum to assist.

If the pedal goes to the floor it's a base brake system problem, like air in the lines, brakes out of adjustment, leaking wheel cylinder or caliper, or a bad master cylinder leaking internally. If you installed the master cylinder without fully bleeding it the first time you have a lot of air in the lines.

Drum brakes, not adjusted properly, will give you a low pedal.

I don't believe you have ANY problem with your power booster.

as I said before, my pedal goes to the floor and the truck will stop on a dime. I've just gone ahead and called it normal.

Well.........took off LF caliper all cheeks good. Took off RH caliper and found inner pad broke loose and very thin. Looks like I found my problem....now if I could only remember which caliper I replaced last year?

Ok......replaced bad caliper and installed new pads....re-bled system back to front. Still pedal goes to floor? I'm guessing booster now? At $100 for new I'm off to junk yard tomorrow as they are only $20

No offense, but you ARE guessing.

Think about how the system works. The booster has no connection to the hydraulics, it just helps you push the pedal down.

You can not compress a liquid, no matter how hard you press. If it goes to the floor slowly, it's a leak, internal or external. If it's just low the drum brakes are not adjusted properly.

Good luck.

i have to agree. it sounds like you still have air in the line. i don't think it is a booster problem either.
