bleed the master on the bench, then backs, then fronts. My pedal stops about the thickness of my left foot from the floor (IE, I can stomp my left toes by pushing the pedal with my right foot) and my truck stops on a dime, literally.
Have you pulled the drums off the rear to be sure the brakes are working as they should? I've seen stuff like wheel cylinder pushrods that weren't seated in the shoes.
No matter how well the hydraulic part of your brakes work, they won't do much if the mechanical parts aren't right.
You Shure you have the correct master there are 4 or 5 for the second gen depending on 4W or 2W ABS and each engine size according to different brake sizes also.
But I think you have something other going on
Did you get fluid out of the back brakes when bleed?
I adjusted the back brakes...they were loose. Spun rear wheel after it brakes stopped rear wheels. The master cylinder is correct - they gave me the incorrect one the first time!
I did get fluid out of the back breaks when bled also.
