After comin out of the mud I was hearing a grinding sound. Turned off the 4 wheel drive and it went away. Now I I have no 4 wheel drive and the light on the switch went out. If u turn the **** nothing happens. What do u think it is? Oh and I had someone hook a computer to it and was able to turn on the 4x4 also with the grinding sound. Plz help!!! Need to get it fixed before winter.

Check your tcase and dif fluids.

Could be a wiring issue with the switch too. Have you checked fuses?

maybe the actuator got mud in it and isn't fully in-gauging the 4wd which gives your light on the 4wd switch no idea if it is in 2wd or 4wdhigh or 4wdlow.

Someone asked me about the actuator once but I have no idea was that is. So maybe I need a new one?

Not to sound negative but I think you need to do more diagnosis.

Could it be the actuator, yes. Could it be something else, yes. You may have internal damage to the transfer case, maybe a shift fork.

Just throwing parts at it could get expensive.

I'm with Dan. Either the actuator got mud packed, or the shift fork for bent in the casing.

Who's bright idea was electronic shift transfercase, anyways?
