cv shaft c clip?
Put a new drivers side cv shaft in and now it wont stay locked on there. Im guessing its the little cclip wore out. Will a small regular c clip work or can i make one out of wire? Really would like to get it fixed tomorow but parts stores are closed
We aren't ignoring you, we just don't know.
My inclination would be to try to buy the correct, oem part. Not try to bodge something together. So a trip to the dealer to see if it's available is probably in order.
Alternatively, see if there's a 4wd/offroad shop in your area, go in and ask them why it won't stay in.
Do you have the original cv shaft? A little measuring with a micrometer might reveal that there's a difference in diameter either in the shaft or in the groove where the c-clip rests. I suspect that the clip isn't a wear item and that there may be some other problem causing it to not click in.

I got It to stay for now it seems to be holding good. just got a bigger hammer and beat on it a few times.
Be absolutely certain that the old clip didn't stay in there. If it does, it can keep the new one from snapping in properly and allow the end of the axle shaft to fall out of the differential.
tom, It pulled off the axle stub again so I got a new c clip, put it on the stub and now I cant get the cv shaft to go onto the splines all the way. I beat on it with a big sledge a few times but nothing. any special tips or tricks go get the cv shaft onto the stub all the way? I tried pulling the cv shaft off also and the stub came out with it but the cv still will not go onto the stub all the way. splines and everything are lines up.

Take a look at the old and new shafts. If I recall, there were changes in the design over the years and they moved the c-clip position forward a bit I think.
The change happened sometime between the '00 and '01 model year. Someone may have mixed up the axle.
