Default 1997 V6 3.9L low port for AC recharge

Hey everyone, I'm new to this forum and I have searched all over the internet but cannot find a definite answer. I am having trouble determining where the LOW port is for an AC recharge. I see one port on top of the condenser with a large black cap on the side of one of the silver lines (and the AC recharge bottle doesn't fit on it), and another port above the passenger side headlight connected to the radiator with no cap. I'm just afraid I might accidentally connect it to the HIGH port. If anyone could shed some light on this, maybe even with a picture that'd be great!

The one on the condenser is the high pressure port.

You can also follow the line back from the accumulator to the compressor. That's the low pressure side.

Do find a cap for that high pressure port when you get done. Please use a real gauge set too.

Thanks for the reply! I believe I worded this wrong. The port with the black cap that doesn't fit the bottle is on top of the compressor, and the port with no cap is above the radiator.

Follow the lines or post a picture. There are variations depending upon the year and engine.

You really shouldn't be able to make a mistake hooking it up.

Make absolutely sure the can of r134a DOES NOT contain any sealer. If it does and you ever need to take it to a shop for a/c service most won't touch it.

Pic of were it should be a poor Pic but all I could find the low side line is always the larger diameter line going into the compressor

This is what you need as a new replacement part its called a suction & discharge line

http://www.wholesalemopar.com/parts_catalog.html look under HVAC for a 97 Dakota

I agree with '98. From what I can see you don't have a low pressure port.

The port near the condenser is high, the one at the compressor is also high, it should be on the other side.

Pull the air cleaner housing and check the lines.
