The fan will tighten as the engine rotates, no need for loctite.

Got the fan and clutch a little while ago, haven't gotten the bolts for the fan yet. The fan lines up and fits nicely on the clutch and the clutch fits the water pump just fine. The fan is really close to the engine and doesn't fit into the shroud at all, so not sure if its going to pull air through the radiator very well. When I get the bolts I will be able to check flow with a piece of newspaper on the front. I'll probably get the bolts tomorrow, weather is damp and nasty, also had a tooth pulled yesterday, enuff said

It looks like you are missing the shroud it is #4 on the second Pic and the other pic shows the fan assembly this is out of the 2003 service manual.

I could tell you were missing the shroud as soon as I saw the Pic you posted as they covered the fan by a shroud for your protection back around 2001.

Pic #1

Pic #2

That is a TOTALLY different assembly. Not even close to OEM.

Thanks! Yeah, here's the new one, I've gotta check for the mounting points for the #4 piece and see if that matches up.

OK i guess it is similar, just a different shaped clutch. Never did understand the unbalanced fan blades.

IDK if it's a motor/year thing, but the photo DakAz posted doesn't match my 01. But your pictures do- if you look, there should be some little M10 x 3/4" studs sticking out of the fluid tanks. 3 on one side and 2 on the other. I shredded my lower shroud, but still carry the upper shroud and clutch fan in back of the truck in case I need them.

Yeah, today when I had it stuck on there for the "mounted" pics I had the fan turned the other way, but when I saw your pics I turned it around the right way. Here's a pic of the place where the #4 would mount, but I don't see where it can, no blank screw holes or any place to attach it that's obvious. But, I'm in agreement with you, something is still missing in a big way. I don't see how it's gonna pull through the radiator with that much wide open area. What I'm looking at is two piece, an upper and lower, I don't see any studs sticking out.
