Well I replaced the controller in the dash and now I can get all the vent settings to work.

The cable for the blend door is acting weird, if I turn it 3/4 of the way to heat air comes out of the vents, if I go past that you hear the blend door slam shut and nothing comes out of any of the vents. Still no heat, but the top radiator and both heater hoses get hot to where u can touch them. So I'm thinking T-stat?

Can or can't touch the heater hoses? They should be very HOT with the inlet hose hotter than the outlet.

On the cable, is it moving with the door? Or is the door just slamming on it's own?

Sorry about that, can't touch it and it slams shut with the cable, doesn't matter if you do it by hand or with the ****. It gets so far and I then just slams shut, you can hear it.

If the heater hoses are that hot the thermostat is working.

There's something up with the linkage or the door itself.

So when its in working order the blend door shouldn't be closed all the way is what you are saying?

Also should I replace the t-stat anyways since the temp gauge is only getting around 170*ish if I had to guess based on where the gauge is?

Change the thermostat anyways. It's cheap.

The blend door should be able to go from full hot to full cold and stay where you put it, not have it slam. It sounds like a linkage problem. There should not be much play in the system.

when it slams shut, no air comes out of the vents what so ever. Should the door be closing that much or does that mean there is another issue?

There's another issue. The door "diverts" air THROUGH the heater core when the control is in the "hot" position.

You could have something in the plenum blocking the flow - but the door shouldn't slam shut regardless.

Roll the dash and pull the HVAC housing.
