Default 04 dakota

I have a 2004 4.7L V8 awd dakota and the front end is making a weird noise. it almost sounds like keys jinging. its like a higher pitch rattle and it only makes that noise when i let off the gas. once i press on the gas it goes away. it never did that until i took the front end apart to change the oil pan. anyone know what could be making that noise?

Welcome to the forum Andrew.

Front prop shaft? High pitched would be a bit unusual for that though. Try it with the t-case in "lock" and see if it changes.

its not a high pitch rattle more like a regular rattle but it only does it once i get it higher than 20km/h and it goes away and i press on the gas then comes back when i let off. had to drop the whole front end just to get the oil pan so maybe when it was put back together something was put in wrong?

Exhaust? Maybe a heat shield?
