Default Tilt wheel question

What exactly broke off here in the pic ?
The tilt wheel lever cable is not releasing the steering wheel ,the wheel is at the lowest point an wont adjust..The cable is moving the piece, in picture ,up an down but its apparently unattached or broke there .Red arrow shows top of it an it moves as adjusting spring loaded side handle. It looks like a spring is under it also.
Thanks

Nothing fell out no.
Theres still spring pressure on the side lever an wheel is in lowest position. Its been this way a while so I'm not sure on that piece[an if it's even what's missing]
Maybe repair manual has a breakdown with pics? Or I can look at one like it at the junkyard .
Any info is appreciated.

For the most part, not to many pieces of the column are available from the parts store, or dealer either for that matter....... If you can find another column, grab the whole thing, and just swap 'em out.

I know GM had issues with the tilt-support tearing on the older tilt columns (90's vintage). And while they were an exercise to change, it was doable, and parts were readily available...... No idea on the dodges.... I haven't seen very many broken tilt columns.

The cable end is broken, in the yellow ring.

Don't know if parts are available. I'd try a boneyard too.

Yea I thought it broke off.Looking online it looks like the entire wheel has to come off .
Would be good if that part came off the cable under that spring an I could slide another one on it.
It's been tough to find a diagram with one intact .
Maybe it looked like this one?

You could try a dealer. They may not have the part but might be able to find a good picture with a part number. I know it's a long shot.
Otherwise, how about a boneyard that lets you go out and remove parts yourself?

Might be easier to find a used steering column.

I use the tilt feature about once a year, if that much. Can you manipulate it with tools, get it to a desired angle and forget about it?

I don't know about now with it being FCA, but Chrysler used to have the NS1 network. Dealers would put old parts on it and other dealers could search. I found a drag link for a 1963 Chrysler once that way. The customer was happy as the prices was reasonable, the dealer cleared another old part out and made a little money and I didn't have to make one from old parts.
