Any interest here in better mpg mods?
Valve came, does not work... Actuator is bad. So i installed a 2' section where the 9" was with the snorkel out. Brought back bottom end torque but not as strong. Took the snorkel and trimmed it so i can install and remove easily, currently installed, no test drive yet
Test drive done, idle a tad rough after test drive, may have exceeded a limit. Bottom end torque is seemingly back to its peak, top end does not pull as strong.
So... I think the right answer is the valve on the air box plus a shorter 2nd potato launcher.

Still running the same setup, have not had the rough idle again (IATs have been lower). I did have an idle bobble event yesterday after parking. I'd had this in the past, like the 1st few months of owning it but it went away and had not popped up until yesterday.
Installed 2.5 " exhaust dump on the air box. I anticipated it would loose bottom end torque and move power up rpms... And it did just that. Valve opens too soon, need to find a way to slow it down. Thinking a bleed valve on a larger hose prior to the valve on the box

Air box mod is done, posting pics... only thing not shown is the ball valve used to control the vacuum source to the actuator. Used a compressor ball joint and 2 1/4" nipples to the hoses.

So I now have a good chunk of the bottom end torque back and the benefits of the open box in midrange power. I dont think the valve opens all the way the way I have it set (ball valve) but it is better than having a closed box or an open box. This was an interesting experience for sure. I now believe I could run the Jeep TCM in there with positive results and that will be my next test.

Had a mini road trip today, 145 mi total, 100% dgas with speeds in the 63-73 mph range. Filled up before and after and got a 19.5 mpg. Was shocked by that and recalculated to the same result. Did not expect that, expected 15-16 mpg.
@V8Cowboy did you do any of these mods? (insulation, 1/2" tubes off intake manifod) I was consitently above 18 until the fuel fill vent hose failed and am leaking fuel @ fillup. I'm doing upper 16's right now before the air-dam install. Power wise it is way better than it was before. Also, pulled the trigger on a diag tool that will allow me to program the VIN on this ECU. Should be getting it this week but will still wait until I have a 2nd ecu in hand before messing with it. Ram is still down so cant have the Dak go down right now.

Hi Steve, no didn't do any of them yet....i'm figuring something out to make the tubes and see what is does.
I've been busy with my brake upgrade, got me a set of used spindles from the States and everything else new from PowerStop, only thing i did order here in Europe ( Germany ) were stainless brake hoses, but they made the wrong size, so i had to rebuild the old ones to keep me on the road for the time being.
Also i did find a set of Dodge Viper Wheels here in The Netherlands by the Viperwizzard, so next week gonna pick them up.
Last weekend i went to the junkyard and found myself a set of Cadillac CTS seats, wan't to install them this weekend, but it ain't gonna be easy, the tracks are 22 inch wide, so i have to fabricate something serious.
Keep up the good work Steve, hope you get the PCM programmed, and keep following you're post.
