Any interest here in better mpg mods?
Read you're reply on the 2008 cams, thanks Steve
This should work, but we do have to tune, if you go with these cams, the A/F is off, only cams who can operate without a tune are the HO cams, don't think i could find them anytime, this is why i looked at 08+ cams, seems they should come more available around here......
I would like to know if he "only" had the 341HP or if he got a decent amount of torque as well
.
And probably he gained a lot of torque at 5000 rpm's, but what about the low end torque, if you need a Stall converter to keep things moving....

If you swap cams your definitely going to have to tune it... maybe the only way around it might be to have larger injectors. As I understand it the JTEC ECU will always shoot for the 14.7 AFR so if the cams lean it out, more fuel out of the injectors would be needed, as long as the duty cycle on the injectors is not "maxed out", it may be able to adjust. Then the problem might become the duration. Having no experience on the gassers, it would be my expectation that the more fuel injected via a larger injector is going to keep the pulse width shorter which would keep the AFR in line. Short of a larger injector, you could increase fuel pressure.
I am tempted to go grab the MT setup out of that truck... Driving the ram again the last several days makes me miss it (the MT) a lot. Dropping it into neutral on the hills shows me how much drag there is on the dakota... I did the same (trans doesnt like it too much) a while back and the amount of speed gained was maybe 2 mph vs 7~9 on the Ram on the same hill. I am pretty sure there is a good amount to be gained when I get to the aero mods.

Update... Have a line on a replacement ECU, waiting for Monday to get shipping costs and getting it shipped. Also have chatted with a shop owner on getting the original ECU re-flashed and need to call him back and ask about VIN programming the JY ECU. The plan in front of that though is to do an HPT read on the JY ECU and pass that info onto the hpt tech support for a thumbs up. Going to ask them if they can patch in my VIN to that read file so I can attempt to write that back into the OEM ECU. Will see how that goes.
Also, been thinking about the JY intake manifold off the '04~'05 I saw last weekend, may ask my son to go back over and have a 2nd look and maybe pick it up for me (he lives 10 minutes from that JY). Have an interesting idea using the bored out 70mm TBS & the shorter runner intake manifold, would need to look at it to see if its feasible and if the idea has any merit. To avoid getting "beat up" by the performance crowd, will keep it to myself for now lol. (all of the info to figure it out is posted in the 70mm TBS & this thread if anyone is bored and motivated). Success would be dependent on the IM design & experiment, which I would need to see a mani to determine if its even worth doing. If that JY mani is still there & I get it I'd slap it on the motor and see what it does for me (expectation is hp will move up the rpms range & bottom end torque would dip, question is how far does it move).

ECU on its way... maybe Wed/Thur, depends on when it gets picked up. Still unclear as to if it will fire up or not with the VIN mis-match... saw only 1 thread that indicated it would with 2 lights on the dash.
Don't think i can give you the answer on this, i have read a guy changed them out and the VIN mismatch would only have an affect if you had the "anti theft system" ?? don't know the proper name for it.
Otherwise it should gave no problems.....

if the new ECU has it? If the new ECU has keyless entry, would that prevent a start? (i guess I will find out in a few days...)
