Default Swapping Durango parts to Dakota

Will the spindle and brakes from a 04 Durango 2 wheel drive fit on a 01 Dakota 2 wheel drive? Wanting to swap back axle also for disc brake up grade. Any information would be really appreciated. Thank You

I know the 03 Durango brakes/knuckle do. Its part of the dual piston upgrade that I assume your going for. I don't believe they changed the brakes from 03-04 on the Durango. The rear brake upgrade is custom parts as far as I know and you'll either have to decide on how you want to handle the parking brake.

yes, swap the entire spindle assembly to do it easiest, ball joint to ball joint. That's what I did.

03-04 was a drastic change, as Durangos went from gen 1 to gen 2. I don't know for sure, but my guess is it won't fit.

Ah I thought the Durango's switched the same year as the Dakota's. In that case it most likely changed...

Nope, only the body changed for those years. The chassis was the same, at least at the wheel ends. Chassis changed to 5-lug in 05.

I went to the junkyard, found an 04 durango, knocked the 4 balljoints and 2 tie rods loose, and came home with a heavy, expensive, full wheel barrow.

Knocked the 4 and tie rods off my 01, bolted on the 04's. Brake lines, ball joints, tie roads are all the same.

04 Durango is five lug. https://www.carparts.com/details/Dod...E&gclsrc=aw.ds

Just so we are clear, this is an 04 durango.

Found my original thread post: https://dodgeforum.com/forum/2nd-gen...ml#post3423204

I thought I had a post with part numbers for the front brake swap, but I guess not.

Donor Platform: 2003 Dodge Durango 2WD
Oreilly retail pricing

Front Left Caliper Only: 18-4877, $48.99 + $35 core
Front Left Caliper + Bracket: 18B4877, $54.99 + $42 core
Front Right Caliper Only: 18-4876, $48.99 + $35 core
Front Right Caliper + Bracket: 18B4876, $54.99 + $42 core
Front Left Brake Rotor: 780133RGS, $74.99
Front Right Brake Rotor: 780133RGS, $74.99
Brake Pads, Set: MKD966, $21.99
Left Upper Ball Joint: K7392, $92.99
Left Lower Ball Joint: K7393, $94.99
Right Upper Ball Joint: K7393, $92.99
Right Lower Ball Joint: K7393, $94.99

Price to replace everything: $281.95 for brakes + $185.98 for UBJ + $189.98 for LBJ = $657.91

---------------

It looks like O'Reilly's hates MOOG. Rockauto has the ball joints WAYYYY cheaper.

K7392 $37.79 Upper

$281.95 + $75.58 + $73.98 = $431.51

------------

NAPA Retail Pricing is pretty much the same:
