2002, 3.9 SLT automatic, quad cab-Been trouble shooting a nobus code. Found this connection disconnected resting on the frame below air filter. It's a short wire so can't go much much further than where it is. Can't find a hookup for it. Is it supposed to be connected somewhere? Thanks.
Smack! There are fog lights that are hooked up and working.
The connector in question is part of the wires plugged in to the computer nearest the front of truck.
a 2-wire connector is going to be a switch or a temperature probe. What you are seeing as "short", I am seeing as "fell down".
Is there an ambient temperature sensor on the radiator core support on the front of the truck, between the radiator and passenger headlight?
If yes - Is it perhaps missing a connector?
If yes - do you have the overhead computer display?

Not seeing a connector, no overhead computer. I see only three connections in that area- all hooked up. Looked for a lose lead hanging in front and on top- nothing so far. The lead off the connector in question is short. Pulled the air filter box nothing there either. I hope this pic shows a better picture. Thanks all.
A family member gave me the truck. Think the tie rods are bad and it needs a brake fluid flush. Will get it in the shop soon for these and alignment. Front interior overhead lights not working, radio comes on and looses sound in 30 seconds, off and on nobus code. Fuses are good. AC blows fuse when turned on, otherwise few stays good. Starts, runs good, but seems to use more fuel than should. Heater is stuck on defrost - read that's probably because the AC is not working properly.
I've just been dinking around on it untill I can afford the repairs.
I just went and checked mine. Confirmed it's the outside air temp sensor. since you're doesn't have the smart overhead computer, you don't have the sensor on the core support.
