Ok would it be easier to install the transmission with it already connected to the motor?

 

In a dakota? I think trying to stuff 'em both in together would be difficult, at best.....

 

Yeah it was fun, everything went together smoothly, gonna work into the night to plug up all the wires, thank you all for your help I appreciate it

 

Finally runs, and drives, total swap cost was under 100 dollars

 

So what caused it to lock up?

 

The torque converter on the old transmission wasn't fully seated and smashed into the pump, so I just swapped out transmissions and converted the 4x4 transmission out of the parts ram I had to 2wd, only problem now is the exhaust won't bolt up because the transmission line needs to be bent up and off to the side somehow

 

Does it have enough length to bend it?

Yeah I think so, there the same ones as on the V6, just gotta pull them up over the starter
