Default Dodge Dakota 3.9 v6 slt misfire help please!

So when I first start it up in the morning all is fine, doesn’t misfire or anything, but let’s say I go to the store then come back and then like an hour later I need to go back out or even a couple mins, it’ll misfire really bad, I’ll hear some not so good sounds under the hood like clicking or popping and it’ll either A) stall or B) have a surge of power then drive fine! Any thoughts? I’m scratching my head trying to figure it out

Distributor cap, and the rotor under it. Key pieces of your ignition system.

I will check that as soon as I get back, any other potential issues?

Crank sensor is a real good possibility. Any codes? What spark plugs are in it? May want to check resistance on the ignition coil, If it's out of spec it could be bad.

there’s no codes, the ignition coil is about 9 months old I replaced it with the waterpump and alternator haven’t replaced the crank sensor though
