Lifts for the Dakota are really kinda limited. Other than a body lift you have about two options. Here are links to them. Hope this helps.

So what's the difference between the 97-99 and the 00-04 suspension? Why are there more lift kits for the 97-99's than newer ones?

I dont know the difference , but i hear all the lifts for the dakota suck. You'd probaly be better off finding someone to custom fabricate one for you. That way you get whatever you want - height , travel , etc.

Check out the Rancho Lifts. They have a 3" lift that would work just fine for what you want. Unfortunately this lift like all others I have ever seen for the Dakota's is a block lift for the back axle. It is designed to lift the back end 2" and front end 3". This obviously levels your ride out at the same time. As for trying to find lifts for later models compared to earlier models, the laters have IFS suspension where the older Dakota's have solid axles front and rear.

You can also find lifts at this site:

I got a 3" Fabtech suspention lift on my 01 quad cab... It is KILLER!!! no trouble at all... Only had to trim the wheel well a bit to fit the increased tire size (33"tires).. The truck performes perfect and I would highly recamend the kit.

I'm pretty sure all dakotas were IFS, only solid axle ones I've seen have been aftermarket conversions. I am 100% positive that all 2nd gen have been IFS, and for whatever reason there is a split 97-99 and 00-04, but I don't know what the difference is.

No, 96 and older Dak's came with solid axle front ends on 4x4 models. I had a 95 stalk extended cab 4x4 with the solid front axle. Yes all 2nd gens I know of have IFS also. What are you talking about with this split between 97-99 and 00-04?
