Default Cam Questions

I have a 99 Dodge Dakota R/T with full exhaust (edelbrock shorties, custom mid-pipe, gibson dual sport cat-back, ram air intake, and a superchips programmer set to the proformance tune. I'm looking into getting a cam and to be honest, I'm lost. I dont need anything too aggressive, but at the sametime I dont want to waste my time & money doing this if its not really going to be worth it.
So, if anybody has cammed their truck, or just knows what I should get, or if you just have any information you think I should know, feel free to share I could really use the help .

ps- What type of gains would I be looking at?

i've been reading about rhoads lifters they are supposed to make it so you can run a wild cam without sacrafising drivability. they are supposed to restore idle quality low end torque and economy that you may loose with a cam.

I dont think I want to have a "wild" cam though, I was thinking more basic. Something that wouldn't need any computer changes, or spring upgrades

When upgrading your cam, you would want to flash your PCM either way. Contact KRC and they will be able to provide better tech. support on their products. They will certainly have a cam for your setup.

just out of curiosity, what engine do you have? I have a 4.7 so I get the unfortunate pleasure to have 2 cam shafts, which conveniently more than doubles the price compared to the 5.2 and 5.9L engines which have only 1. I've also been told the the install is extensive and will prolly pay around 400$ in labour to get it installed. $*%&!!! [sm=headbang.gif]

I have a Dakota R/T 5.9L, Im not worried about the install, between a few of my friends you could have one master mechanic, so they have me convinced we can do it...so Im not worried about the install, plus the truck can sit for a few days I have other methods of transportation.

ps- it will save me some gas since I wont be able to drive it everywhere like I usually do
