Default CB?

I'm thinking of puting a CB in my truck.
I was wondering If some of you guys could point me in the right direction
I don't need anything fancy, I want a smaller unit that won't take up much space as I need every square inch.
and I don't want it to look gaudy or bulky.
Any ideas?

first off how far do you want it to go, smaller units don't have nearly the range... any uniden or cobra is a very good choice they all go about 3-5 miles but some can receive from farther away this is also greatly decided by you antenna setup

i would give up on the CB and do like i did, myself and all of my friends went out and bought motorola 2 way radios with a 10 mile range on them and we just take them with us when we go out they work between the cars and then some they are amazing just make sure that you get the ones with rechargeable batteries or else you will be spending alot of money on AAA batteries

I won't use it daily for sure but it would come in handy plenty of times.
I have a handheld but I don't want another piece of crap floating around in the truck that i won't use 'cause i can't find it.

when we were kids we used to play a tracking game with cb's somthing liek this is what i had http://cgi.ebay.com/COBRA-25-NW-CB-R...QQcmdZViewItem

but that isnt realy a stock cb...

here is what i recommend for a antenna
http://cgi.ebay.com/K40-49-Trucker-C...ayphotohosting

dont get a window mount antenna or dual whips behind the cab, this is not a good way to use any radio being that the cab blocks your signal...

i have a cobra 27, its about $130..good radio, has weather stations and the SWR calabration dial so you dont need to buy the unit by itself as well, and the Lil Wil Wilson Magnet Mount cb antenna is perfect, hold on to about 105 mph

I have a Uniden PC68XL. It works great. I also have a 2 ft fiberglass antenna that I mounted right behind the cab that has a wire for the ground. I ran it down behind the cab and bolted it to the frame. The setup works great and I have no problem talking or recieving for 6 miles. I drive highway everyday and the truckers can be a greatbeardetector. I also have the same setup in my truck at work except I have a 4 ft fiberglass antenna mounted to the mirror. I personally think the 2 ft works better because of the ground wire. I get less static with that one.
