I had the same problem with my 2005 Durango. I took it to the dealership and there was a fuel tank recall, my tank was replaced and the problem no longer exist.

I have a 2007 durango and I am having the exact same problem with the gas over flowing. I called dodge and they told me there was no recall on my vehicle and they couldn't help me even though I expressed me concern that the 2005 model had the same issue and received a recall.

Man, this seems like a recurring problem as this is the third post within a week about a gas overflow,

2007 Durango
I've never had problems like this with any other vehicle, started within the last month, thought it was the gas station, but we just got back from traveling for Christmas, happened four times in a row at four different gas stations. Any news on 'fixes'?

I dont have the problem and I dont want it but it seems to me thats this idea makes the most sence to me. It has to be a blocked vent filled with crud.

"It seems like the vent gets plugged, and needs to be cleared out. I have to fix my air compressor to try this - has anyone else tried to clear out the EVAP vent?"

my wifes 05 has done this since we bought it back in march and the dealership knows of the recall but says our vin is not on the list. How the f#$k does that make a difference if the truck is doing exactly what is described in the recall?!?!?!?

05 Second Time
My 05 started doing this while there was still a few miles left on the warranty. The dealer replaced the tank and it fixed the problem. Then about 6 months ago I received a recall notice in the mail but I ignored it......because mine had been fixed under warranty. Now, 18months later the problem has returned. I going to check with the dealer and see if the recall is still valid or if I'm going to have to raise hell to get this fixed.

After checking the net, I found this site http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/recalls/recallsearch.cfm The '05 is there, havent checked for the 04 or 06 but here's a place to check.

Its NOT just limited to the Durango's.. I have 2008 Aspen still under factory war. and this same problem started about a month ago..

Took it into the Dealer and sure enough they replaced the tank and filler neck. This was just yesterday..

Never made it out of the Dealer.. As the Tech was putting gas into the tank it started burping gas @ 1/4 to 1/2 tank.

Dealer called Chrysler Tech and they have NO idea as to why this is happening.. So another tank has been ordered and should be in next week...

It sounds as if this issue has been around for a while and no fix is in site other than replacing Fuel tanks...

NOT HAPPY !!!
