My Durango was not under the original recall and I see the 2007 isn't yet either. Just keep complaining to the dealership and call Dodge customer service. You will end up talking to somebody in India (no really, you will) and it may take about 8 hours of trying. Get your call "escalated" to US customer service and maybe you will get somewhere.

Then file a complaint with NHTSA like the other have suggested in the forum. It took me about 6 months, 4 visits to the dealership, and a lot of patience a few years ago to get my 2005 fixed. Dodge does not want to deal with this design flaw.

Have a 2006 Durango that just started doing this at about 95,000 miles.The first time it did this gas went all over the wife's arm and side.

One thing is for sure, mileage has nothing to do with the failure of the fuel tank valve (my 06 Durango has less than 30k miles). I wonder if the fuel itself is deteriorating a part which causes the valve to fail. If that is the case, it is a serious design flaw.

If a Durango (or any other Dodge vehicle with this flaw) were to roll over, and the gas cap was somehow dislodged, I think it is possible for fuel to flow out of the tank.

That is something the NHTSA should definitely be looking into.

I did warn Chrysler Corporate to open up a case to resolve this issue or we were going public, well guys, this is even more massive than we thought it was. 2004-2008 models ID'd & now Jeeps... What else will pop out with this problem?

I just wanted to add myself to list of people having this same gas fill problem. I have an 05 4.7 and this started the summer of 2010 and is still happening.
I will try the air vent blow out real soon.

Add me to the list also. We filed a complaint and called Chrysler a couple of days ago. They are offering to pay to have it repaired, but we have to pay $300???? We just bought this truck a week ago.

If you have a Twitter or Facebook account, perhaps if enough people complain via social media, something will be done? There is another youtube video of someone filling his Jeep, and fuel is sprayed upwards, which could have easily nailed the person in the face. I fear that it will take someone who is seriously injured before Dodge and the NHTSA take action.

I just bought my 06 Durango on Tuesday and I had to fill it up on Friday. The gas overflow issue happen to me as well. That is how I found this website. I cannot believe Dodge hasn't done anything about this. I'm surprised that they haven't been sued over this issue yet by someone who has been seriously injured due to this malfunction.

I'm surprised the environmental wackos haven't gotten involved in this one yet. Spilling gas = soil contamination = groundwater contamination. There's a reason it's illegal to dump gas, and that's essentially what's going on here.

Question: Has anyone had this repaired, and had the problem come back in a year or two? I'm wondering if the replacement parts are the same crap that failed in the first place, which will inevitably lead to repeat failure.

It took almost four years for mine to initially happen, so if I get another fours years it will be someone else's problem,
