Headliner Leak When Raining Hard
OK, I didn't think this was possible.... but it has recently rained pretty hard where I live twice in the last week.
And twice both times, I noticed that the area above the passenger side front and rear... you know, the part near the doors that is a little lower than the rest of the head liner were really wet.... the water even went so far as to go down the front side and start dripping onto the dash (into the air vent that blows on the passenger side window).
I'm concerned about this.
My initial explorations don't find any door seals damaged however I did notice that the rear door seal (at the top) was moveable, in other words, I could pull it in and out of the metal it was mounted on... but nothing else seemed abnormal.
Any ideas on what I can look for?
I should add that it is an 06 Durango SLT stock.
Thanks.

had a similar experience in the winter, water was running out of the vents. i found it to be the sunroof. frost had collected on the inside and the melted on a long road trip. now i leave part of the sliding part open. dont know if tis helps just letting you know.
MIGHT be a TSB the dealer can do to fix the issue. IIRC, it isn't unheard of on the Gen2s... especially the 2006s. If you are still under warranty, get it in the shop.
On a few Chryslers, that wet hood liner is a HUGE problem.

Bump....
Mah Bad for not following up on this, but it's still happening. I suppose I need to remove the headliner, but don't know how to go about doing that. If anyone has suggestions please let me know.
Also another thought I had was that perhaps this is due to something wrong with the roof rails, but nothing is obvious from the outside. How would I start to remove them to check out if more sealing is needed?
Here is a pic of the damage this is causing inside the Durango.

So, I need to figure out how to remove the headliner... or the better question is.... how do I check the roof rails. I assume I will have to loosen them to see how the seal is, to do that, I also assume I have to remove the headliner. Is that right? If so, how do i remove the headliner?
Thanks!
Thanks!
