Question Transmission problem

Hello All,

I need your help with the following: I own a Durango 05 and recently i noticed the transmission is sounding a bit off. Higher rpms and sometimes a soft clunk sound when gearing down. Now when driving steady there is a wobble ( like you drive over a sideline, although very lightly)

Does anybody have an idea what it can be? could it be transmission torque converter? and if so what should I expect to pay to have that repaired?

Looking forward to your helpful reply

Try cleaning the throttle body and changing your shocks. There are a few threads about a mysterious 'clunking' sound when shifting which I think is normal. Try the search function in the black bar at the top of the page,

Hi Fascistfaction,

shocks are new, throttle body is completely cleaned and there still is a Vibration that feels like driving over rumble strips while driving at a steady speed?

What could that be?

Check your harmonic balancer in the front of the engine as it may need replaced and will cause the engine to vibrate,

Did you ck the driveshaft to see if you missing a weight or bend shaft? And also ck the rear york for loose bolts or nut the pinion shaft. You could also have bad u-joints or a problem with one or more of your tires too. And like fasistfaction had mention ck the harmonic balancer too.

Its not a certain RPMs like say 1800-2000?? That is when the Hemi exhaust drone comes in and sounds like that. There is a TSB on a fix.

It is a pulley connected to the crankshaft in the front of the engine. It counteracts the engines resonant vibration at certain RPMs. Check out this thread (Coal Train last post):
