05 Durango just quits??
My wife has informed me that the problem usually occurs when making right hand turns under braking. I haven't taken the vehicle out and done any testing yet to see if I could replicate the problem.I have asked her to note which way she turning, whether she is under heavy or regular braking, and finally fuel level. Any body have any other ideas about what conditions to watch for?
So this weekend I'm driving on the highway and the check engine light comes on. Seems to be running ok. Get home, and check the fault code. It's a P0404 which is an EGR valve issue. Drag the stupid thing over to the dealership this morning, so we'll see if that has something to do with it.
It did die again this morning. Had driven about 2 miles. Temperature had just started to creep up, was coming to a stop in a turn lane, slowed down to about 5mph, started turning left, then had no power. Truck had stalled.

Found this forum while trying to find out if anyone else has had same problems. We have an '04 Hemi Durango that has stalled on us several times. In november 06, I took it to the dealer who could find nothing wrong but was able to run up a $500 plus bill for new plugs and cleaning of the manifold. Problem showed up again on Friday in the middle of a snow storm. Dealer again said they had never heard of the problem before. I am curious if anyone knows the status of the latest TSB and what is happening with the NHSB(??)
My 05 SLT with the 4.7 started doing this yesterday. I came home from work and went to back into the driveway and it just died. I put it in park and it started right up. I thought that was strange and remembered reading somethin on here about it. Well tonight it did it twice backing into the driveway. Does anyone know where to look to see if the PCM has been flashed. I read on the TSB's that they have to put another decal on to let you know it was altered. I'm not sure where to look for it. It's going back to the dealer to get the 4WD fixed, long story there, and I'm going to mention it at that time. Also has anyone had this TSB done on a 4.7?
I found this forum this morning, because my '05 D with the 4.7L has started doing the exact same thing........ I was in my neighborhood going about 15 and turning right, when the thing died. No lights, power, or steering. I was able to get it restarted, and it didn't die on me again, but I'm going to to be calling my dealer this morning to ask them about the TSBs. Bone stock 05 with about 46,500 on the odometer. I'll reply with the answers I get(or lack there of.....)
Well, According to the people at NTB, it could be:
1. The fuel pump
2. Water in the gas tank
3. The Mass Airflow sensor
4. The throttle positioning sensor.(this was already fluctuating but the people at the NTB said "it's within tolerance for the part, as it has not thrown a code yet...")
So, I'm now in a wait and see about this.

it looks like i am victim of the stalling problem. it happend to me today. i was making a RH turn into a gas station and boom just died, no warning , or stutter just dead. started right back up but a little unnerving. i complained to the NHTSA.
edit* i took it to the dealer and guess what? yup cnt find anyting wrong with it. "this truck is running as fine as it can" i get horrible MPG maybe 10 in town driving and i do not hot rod. also my trans has a delayed engage a couple of times. also no defect found. cost me 150.00 for them to tell me my truck is running fine.
It looks like everyone has a hemi with this problem.???. I have a 4.7 and it has happened twice one time to me and one time to my wife also.
I also notice the idle sometimes going up and down.
I plan on going to the dealer soon.
2006 durango slt 4.7

I had the problem the first few months I owned my 05, 5.7 Hemi, Durango back in 2005. It was real unnerving because it's my wife and kids always in the car. Took it to the dealer twice andeach timethey could not find anything. The third time I took it there I kicked up so much of a fuss that they agreed to keep the vehicle a few days to try and duplicate the problem.
When they finally did call me back they had replaced a "throttle body something". I wish I still had the paperwork to let you know exactly what it was, but since then I have not had the problem. Hope this helps as vague as it is, but I know how serious of an issue this is.
