This may or may not be a very good way to introduce myself to the board...

I have a '04 SXT I've been contemplating buying rims for. However, I am unsure on the largest size that fits on it. I don't want to go into a rim shop and look like a fool asking for something I know nothing about. I don't want some 28" rims that I need a ladder to get in with though. I also don't wanna have to do any type of body work to get them to fit.

Keep in mind I am a COMPLETE 'newb' when it comes to most things vehicle-related. Hell, I don't even know how to change the oil [sm=smiley5.gif] I'm just looking to improve the 'look' on my car. I could care less about speed/performance on my vehicle, I'm just think rims look nice.

 

try some 17x7 rims. the first 17 is the height as you know and the 7 is he width. tires, i would go with some 205/40

to change oil lol : jack up the passenger side of the car and place a jackstand for safety. take out drain plug (bolt on bottom of oil pan) the pan is the thing on the bottom that looks like a waffle. unscrew the old filter. when all oil is out, put the drain plug back in, and put a little oil on the rubber seal of the new filter and screw that on. be VERY careful not to crossthread the filter. give it a flick of your wrist and let it spin on for a while. it should go around a bunch of times easy, if it doesnt, take it off and try again. snug tight. lower the car adn fill the car with 4.5 quarts or 5w30 in the place where the oil cap is. something you whould know lol

yeah and for changing the oil I use car ramps I got from wal-mart for like $25....beats having to jack it up cuz u just drive the car up the ramps park it and do the oil...(its a lil more convenient to me)...and mike made a good point about the oil filter...you'll want to do that and actually filling up the oil filter with oil before you put it back on is a good idea.

 

i couldnt drive up ramps when my car wasnt lowered lol now i have trouble getting into my driveway

I know a friend of mine has some rims, they are 17's, come with tires. They're american racing rims, and are 215-45-17 they would fit on the Neon. It has a 5x100 pattern. He's selling them for $550 + shipping (if not nearby)... (Wheels, lugs and tires). If you want to see a picture, I can post it if you're looking for cheap 17's, they're pretty neat design, if I didn't have rims I would've gotten them! PM me if you want me to forward a picture, it's too big to embed on the forum!

 

I can just barely drive up ramps. Maybe you're lower then me.

 

Would i fit a 195/65/15 in a 05 Neon SXT.
