Yeah but these vipers feel uneven and it's hurting my back. [&:] I was playing around with some washers yesterday trying to get the damn thing comfortable but to no luck. The first day I got them i was like WOW THEY'RE GREAT and then the second day my back started hurting and kinda still does. They're so uncomfortable...

I'm just trying to understand why exactly that would be a bad thing. I can understand that it would probably let some hot air in, but it seems like the bypass valve is a pretty straight-through piece.

Adding the bypass valve would be like cutting the CAI pipe in half, then piecing it back together with a hose clamp...now logically, what makes more sense to you, having one single smooth pipe from the filter to the throttle body, or having a bunch of different clamps and components on the intake?

I can see it causing some turbulence but I don't see it defeating the purpose of a CAI.

Ok, "defeat the purpose" may be too strong...however, for most people who buy ther high quality name brand intakes like K&N Typhoon and AEM, its a waste of money to spend $150-$200 on an intake, then reduce its affect by installing the bypass valve. If your going to go through the trouble of installing the bypass valve because your concerned about hydrolock simply buy a short ram intake, or a K&N drop-in filter and remove the stock airbox lid.

Isn't a short ram intake like damn near non-existant for our neons? Considering that you're going to get about 3-4 inches of piping?
I wonder if I should cut my CAI and try to turn it into a SR.
