since there was all this talk of the mopar lip kit being so cheap, i thought i would go to my local dealer and check it out. when i got there the guy told me that there was one left, so i purchased it. the thing is, it's black. my car is white. my question is for those who have had this installed: is it easier to do it myself or have a shop do it? If a shop does it how much did they charge you? i am so excited, i always wanted this kit but it was sooooo expensive.
thanks :-) When i was reading the instructions i didnt realize you have to take off your bumpers!! The outlined exhaust cutouts on the inside of the rear bumper are those the r/t cut outs? mine only came with one single exhaust cut out.
Yes, the outlined areas on the back of the bumper are for an R/T style dual exhaust. That little cutout is just for the stock SXT exhaust pipe (so it doesnt burn the lip).
yeah, for the lip kit there's the exhaust cutout outline on it... and also you need to cut your existing bumper too if you follow the outline on the lip kit because the cutout is larger then the existing bumper so basically cut the lipkit and cut the bumper underneath the lipkit. As far as the painting goes... I say just spray paint it yourself, especially since you had white... which is even easier to spray paint than silver or so. Take your time on the spray painting and try to spray it in a garage if possible to prevent dust from sticking to the paint so you would have a smoother finish. Oh yeah... you mentioned taking off the bumper.... They're not hard at all once you find all the bolts that hold them in place. You need to put the car on jackstand and take off all wheels or front both and then rear both... The only problem that I ran across was that the bolts underneath was rusted and took a lot of time taking them off... I ended up going to an autoshop for them to take it off with an airgun... they did it for free though. Anyway... good luck on it... and trust me... they look great! Welcome to the club

Well if your have to take off or mess with the front bumper than there goes me not getting one for my sxt since I have a newly painted front bumper I just dont want to mess it up by taking it off. Ill just be happy with maybe a srt rear to fit my exhaust better unless you can put it on without taken the front bumper off.
yeah i can't wait until mine comes in, i ordered mine like four days ago. i didn't realize you have to take the bumpers off to install them though. oh well. it'll be a fun experience.

you take off the front bumper so that you can find the "X" mark that was premolded into every 2nd gen neon's front bumper... then you drill a hole in every X mark so that you can screw the front lip on. You could do it without taking the front bumper off but then finding the X is gonna be hard with a flashlight because it's very vague and at the same time you have to jack up your car so that you can get to it from underneath especially after you put on the lip kit... it's gonna be lower so less space to get in. Or you can just tighten up the side in the fenderwell area and just use the double sided tape and the plastic push tab on the bottom of the bumper. I've tried that at first and I get a small gap between the bumper and the lip kit... although you can't tell from like 5 feet away but if you're standing over your bumper it looks very obvious... like a job unfinish... so i took it off and drilled holes to put it on. By the way airwolf... it's not hard to take off your front bumper... and as long as you put something soft underneath the bumper you should be fine... I took the bolts off the side first and all and then once i take of the bolts in the middle i just lift it off (without touching the ground) and lay it on the grass... no scratches whatsoever... so don't let that stop you from putting on the lip kit
