Trans swap
LMAO 5k for a tranny swap with labor? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA so that's 700 for the parts... and 4300 for labor? where the **** are you getting off? seriously, if a shop is charging 430/hr you need to find a new mechanic, buddy
This subject is getting old anyways if your going to do the tranny swap why not just do the srt turbo swap great in the long run. I must be the only one whos not having trouble with there auto and can keep up with the 5speeds and very happy having an auto. Thats why Im getting another auto yeah an upgrade.

Prices will vary on the tranny itself... I've seen them from as low as free, to $500... I would not pay more than $250 for a neon tranny.
Since not many update their location on this site i didn't know where to search, so here is a random ad... Since the OP has a 2000 neon he can use any 95-00 tranny.
a whole neon for, 80% of everything you need for $200 - http://phoenix.craigslist.org/pts/473635497.html

I think I have found a local transmission shop in my area and I am going to talk to them. Since they specialize in transmissions they should be a ble to get it all and do it for me. As for the dealership, the only thing I MIGHT BE ABLE TO GET from them is a new tranny..... So my hopes are up. I got 4 more shops to contact and see.
neonsxt05 please let me know what you get for quotes on the prices. As for the rest of you, I built up a jeep last year from the ground up. The customer wanted a 350 in his old 88 wrangler, so I dropped in a built 350 bored and stroked to 393, a turbo 700 Trans (auto),and a ford 9 inch rear end. I rewired the whole truck, and put a lift kit suspension on it, like 4 inches only, as well. That bill ended up being around $16,000. It was a sick *** truck though, the long tube headers came around the frame rail and had a glass pack on each, and the truck would pull a bit of a wheelie on a good launch. Swapping the trans is not impossible, but it really is illogical to pay for a shop to do it, you would be better off then just buying a new car, if you plan on doing it yourself, go for it. I'm only saying it's going to be costly to have a shop do it. It may be a little cheaper if you provide all the parts yourself, because there is a big markup there, but still it really isn't worth it.
