Default Battery Help!!!

Ok well I finally got my booger bushings in the mail to place on my shifter cables, but my problem is trying to remove the damn neg. batt. terminal, it is so corroded that the self locking nut is basically attached itself to the damn screw so the whole thing turns. I just want to replace it, so how would I go about it? Advanced or Autozone should have the part right?

03' Neon R/T

only cost me a piece of my thumb lol to cut the **** out for it, looks better now after I put armor all around the steering wheel.

pour some coca-cola on itand use a brush, that should free up some of the corrosion.

andremember to rinse off the cola off with fresh water

Make sure you have enough slack in the cable before you do this. Cut the battery cable right at the end, go over to the parts store and they sell ends with clamps for about 3 bucks a piece. Make sure you clean the battery posts well, and if the positive cable end is as bad, go ahead and replace it too.

In all actuality it would be better to replace the whole cable instead of just the post. For the reason that if it has been covered with corrosion for some time now it will creap up the the ground wire and cause poor grounding which in turn causes hard starts and a loss of electrical power for your whole car and if your running a system you will notice a dramatic loss in sound quality. My recomendation is if yu got a hundred bucks go get the Apexi super grounding system which replaces all your grounds and helps keep voltage up.

anyone know the part number for the whole neg. battery cable stock, cuz the positive has no (not that I have seen) corrosion on it, I've been looking on the autozone site or advanced like you just say I basically just gotta take it out and take it, would the dealership sell it to me?
