RE: ENGINE SWAP....
Possible. yes. expensive. yes.
there are people out there who specialize in the swap.
go on youtube and look up "the black eyed neon project"
I believe he was a 02?
and save money compaired to what? building up a 2.0 for turbo?
Well, Hahn's turbo is anywhere from 3500-4500 then to build up your bottom end another 1000 and top end would be 500. without labor
I've seen a complete SRT turbo setup done for around 2000ish without install
a SRT4 swap will run 5500 done by Matt
all depends on what you want
Pick only two. Fast, Reliable, cheap
and it all depends on what you want. do some research, there's threads all over about this stuff. the search button is your friend

RE: ENGINE SWAP....
Well there you go. you have your answer(s) it all depends on what you want. there are people who swear by the swap then there are others who would rather add a turbo on the 2.0. if you want to turbo consider a "money is no option" attitude because you want it to be done right the first time. there really are no second chances. Consider your options and to sum up what I said...
*Hahn turbo running 8-12 PSI = 3500-4500 off stock internals and ECU
running more than 12PSI = 5500-6500 you will need to built up the top and bottom end as well as run megasquirt
HRC systems have been proven to work considerably well time and time again. everything you need is included.
*SRT4 turbo setup running under 12PSI = 2000ish (it's been done for less) off stock internals and ECU
over 12PSI = 4000ish. Again, built up stock internals + Megasquirt.
A lot of custom work and fabrication is needed as well as custom parts. but I've heard good things about this method.
SRT4 Swap= 5500 is the normal price. engine is built for turbo, has a DOHC and can be staged
Probably the most reliable way to turbo your neon and this way gives you more options than the 2.0L IMO. there will be some who disagree.
*Prices are without labor
all the above have their advantages and disadvantages. some more than others. Me I would prefer the swap over adding on a turbo because I see it as more reliable and has more potential. Do your research before boosting your car and understand every aspect of the project from how a turbo works to what you will need to complete the project. Just be repaired to spend close to or over the amount you paid for the car. Remember: Reliable, Cheap, Fast and you can ONLY pick 2. Take the time, spend the money and enjoy a worry free turbo system.

RE: ENGINE SWAP....
wat scares me away from the srt swap is the cutting of the k fram that **** scares me
i havent really done any reasearch but i really want fast
i wish i didnt have so much debt so i could just buy the swap and not install it but just keep it around buying parts to build it up outside the car.
its easier that way and there is no down time atleast till you do the swapp
