For space and sound quality (and volume reasons) I would suggest going with a single 12" JL Audio sub instead of two 10"s... and a nice monoblock amp to drive it. The money you save by not buying two 10"s will pay for the single JL Audio 12"... and you will be very happy with the volume and sound quality if it's a 12W3... a 12W0 would be okay, but requires more box size. The 12W3, IMO, is a good bump choice for the Neon, and a great quality and sound for any vehicle, hands-down.
Other than that, looking good so far. On a related note, I have a practically new Sony 12" 5-sided sub, 1200-watt max, 300 RMS that is basically new, would sell it for $20 or less since I never really used it much at all. Not a top-quality item, but it puts out some great volume.

I have my old High school digital electronics teacher meeting me again to help me decide on what speakers are good and an amp to power them. He used to install high powered audio systems.
The guy finally shipped the headunit today and with all luck on saturday I will be buying the enclosure.

Yes it does, the face is motorized and flips down to reveal the cd slot. It has the ipod cable and usb cable for usb drives. You are thinking about the one that has a 2.2in screen, Right?

I pmed caraudiohalic this but he hans't been on in a while so I'll post it here.
I see that amps have an rms power and a max power. How do you acheive the max wattage out of an amp like this one?:
http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...16-PR4.50.html
As for the amplifier wiring kits when they say "dual 2 amp power kit 1000 watts" does that mean out of one single amp? or the total power of the two amps combined?
Like this one: http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...cker+PKD4.html
Or should I get this kit instead since with both amps max power comined I would be about 1900 watts?
http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...cker+PKD1.html
I am still going with the alpine type R sub and the alpine m500 monoblock amp along with a power acoustik 1200watt amp. Keep in mind I will rarely take the amps to their full power. The power acoustik will send 100watts to all 4 speakers = 400 watts and with the m500 amp I would probly give the sub 700 watts, which is a total of 1100.
And one last question, how bad would this system be killing my battery? with just a little above half the volume cranked up?
On a side note I will be buying the 6.5in component speakers and 6x9 speakers next week, both mtx audio.

As far as batteries, I'd consider an optima battery, they rock. You should also consider a higher capacity altenator and at least a 1 farad capacitor to take some strain off of the system and give the amps an extra kick. As far as the subs, the type R's are a good choice. Did you think about putting one in each corner by the taillights firing forward? I did this in my old 01 Sebring and it worked great. It also allowed me to save a bunch of space in the trunk.( I have kids and luggage space is a must) It also looks a little more custom as well.
