Default question about some rough shifting....

I have an 03 SXT and up until recently havent had any issues with it.

I noticed a few days ago when going into town that my car was shifting really awkwardly (its an automatic btw). It wasnt shifting up until like 6000rpms sometimes and would downshift really rough. Sure enough when I got parked and checked the transmission fluid, it was really low. I added some to it and for the next few days it was running normal.

Today going to school it was shifting a lil rough again. I checked the level of the fluid which was good. I'm concerned that I didnt get the fluid in there before something got messed up. It wasnt doing it in the lower gears.

So what I would like to know is what would be possible reasons for why my car is shifting rough and what to do about it.

Mine has been doing a rougher (harsher) shifting since it has been getting colder up here lately. Seems to be fine again when it warms up. Maybe try a quick fluid and filter change if it hasn't been done in the past, IDK, 50K? The color of fluids isn't always the surefire way to tell if they are still good or not. Does the fluid smell burnt at all, even a tiny bit?

-This is crazy. Mine is starting to have a little shudder sometimes when it shifts from 3rd to 4th gear. It has 44k on it right now. Maybe I should do a fluid/filter change soon.

k, can do. There was alot done to the car when I first got it (seeing how it wasnt running when I bought it) but I dont know if they did that then or not. It got some fluid changes supposedly. Wouldnt hurt to do it though. Thx
