Default Engine swap (2.4 or magnum)

I would like to either swap the 2.4 N/A motor or the motor out of the R/T Neon into a 2003 Neon SXT. What would i need to do this swap or is it a direct swap?

if you swap over the r/t engine, you will need engine, tranny, pcm and i would do harness just in case. is your car manual tranny

ebay be about the only place i can think of... but even if you swapped the 2.4 youd have to have everything too. I would only swap to a 2.4 if you were going to do and SRT swap. I really dont see what the difference really would be... 0.4 litres dont seem like it would be that much better... and besides, your puttin in a magnum so you could boost that engine anyways. Go for the RT.. be alot easier to work with IMO.

Hell you may even be able to use your same tranny for an RT swap if its manual.

Yea, i was probably gonna go with the R/T swap since it was offered for my year car anyway it'd be alot easier to do the swap and the R/T and 2.4 engine are about the same horsepower rating (a 2 horsepower difference). Is the name of the engine actually magnum or is there another name for it (ex. sr20det,422A,b16)

The internals and HP capability of the 2.4 are an advantage for sure over the stock 2.0's. I'm not too sure about the internals/HP capacity of the 2.0 Magnums though...

the magnums are alot tougher than the regular 2.0s they are DOHC, and they are built about the same as the 2.4s. You possibly may be able to use your computer too depending on how many cams you got right now, and how many your going to have.. Might as well get the whole set up. Im not sure if there is a different name for them, ive always just heard magnum engines. they are in the r/ts... I accually think the SRT4s engines were built the same as magnums, just of course has that extra 0.4 litres... and you could boost WAY more than 2 horses to make up for it lol, even a few little nit pick things can get you over 2 hp.

I found a thread on another forum saying that the Magnum swap is pretty hard, that you have to make custom motor mounts, also that it'd be easier to do the Turbo 2.4 swap. It also mentioned something about using the SOHC Magnum head, intake manifold, and computer upgrade to get the same horsepower is this correct? here's the URL http://www.automotivehelper.com/topic536844.htm I apologize for asking so many questions. I had an idea could you put the 2.4 DOHC head on the 2.0 block and swap the computer and injectors? Since DOHC is better for higher horsepower. Would that work or am i just dreaming to much

Even if you can, I think you would be better off just doing the whole thing.
