its easy for everyone to say just sell it and buy an srt4... which yeah is a great car... but if your like me you hate having a car payment.. and i like slowly building a car up myself taking the time and building it the way i want... its more fun that way to me... besides what fun is it in buying a fast car that anyone can buy... when you can make a car just as fast yourself and have way more fun doing it... besides the respect you gain from others when they find out you built the car not bought the car.... to some people its not about just having a car thats fast its building a car to make it fast....

my friends are always mocking the neon, but i've beaten some of my friends rides, a 2.5 altima with no mods, civic with a SRI, and a 2000 Maxima with a CAI and straight pipe exhaust...and all i have done is a racing header with the down pipe.
its MUCH more fun to work on a car everyone can make fun of, just to show all your friends up... >.>

i think wasting your money and trying to make a economy car fast is a pipe dream. if you put every bolt on part on your 2.0 it will run mid 15's at best. your only going to make that car dramatically faster buy changing engine characteristics like a cam or boring it out. or you can turbo it, still slower than an srt4. take a fast car and make it faster, alot more fun and the gains are worth every penny you spend. and then your not the guy everyone is laughing at because you have a huge exhaust pipe that sounds like a leafblower.

if your gonna say that why mess with any fwd car they are all garbage in the sense they arent meant to handle that much power...and truth is i cant stand people who by "fast" cars(unless its an exotic) and run around in them stock thinking they are the **** when my neon will blow the doors off a stock srt-4 and before you ask whats in it...by no means is it stock 12.5:1 compression crane 16 cams(which i just found) mopar pcm and the list goes on...the srt-4 is a dope car if you can afford one and want a turbo but then what happens when you run out of bolt ons for srt?? if your gonna look into getting another car dont get a fwd..get an awd or rwd..i have a charger r/t cam'd,cai,tb spacer,bigger tb, exhaust,and aftermarket ecu..and that thing is a blast..so back to the original statement..build your neon yeah in the END it is just a NEON and thats what makes them FUN!

besides we can build up our cars and pay a hell of a lot less in insurance then any srt-4 owner pays.... yet another reason to build up a slow economy car... and as far as bolt ons only getting you into the mid 15s maybe in 2nd gen... i've seen first gens with bolt ons run very low 15 high 14s... guess it depends on the driver... then with things like cams(which i kinda consider a bolt on cause its really not that hard to install) and slicks and stuff like that i've seen them in the very low 14s and even faster with a small shot of laughing gas...then turbo lol... lets just say a fair amount faster then a stock srt 4... and i know for a fact he had less money in his car then a srt-4 costs...
im still not believing any of this, you will have to prove it to me. show me you spent less than the price of an srt 4 and you have a faster car. this car has to pass emmisions and be a reliable daily driver, using the stock 2 liter engine. no nos.
