Who knows what could happen.. Most likely it will spend it's life at the bottom of the timing cover, but there is an off chance that it could get into the sprockets..

compressed air & a shop vac might get it out if you have patience and try, if it were me I'd do a quik tear down an play it safe. But a tight, and new timing belt will most likely wear that plug to bits hopefully.... but weird things can happen in the winter time when rubber/plastic is much less forgiving.... How'd it get down that far in the first place?

i was checking the timming mark on the cam and went to put the plug back in and it was so thin and floppy it just flopped in.... the timing belt is new and my dad said it will prolly live in the bottom of the cover and wear away because it is rubbing a lil. im not that worried about it because the front cover is soo close to the belt and gears that it has no were to go but around the belt. shop vac good idea. if i use fish tubing and suck it to the plug and drag it back out i guess.

so i drilled a small hole in the back of the bottom of the timing cover( right by the alternator belt) The cover is about 3 inches from the belt there. broke off a few pieces and made sure they were not in the cover. then looked in there and felt in there. The lil plug that fell in was NOT at the bottom of the cover... its either gone and shreded or rubbing on the other side of the cover. At leaste it has somewhere to go now, if it deciedes to leave...( hopefully) lol. i donot have acces to compressed air
