You mean you actually change it before then?!

I do mine every 10,000 or so. I could go to 20,000 but with the extra fueling, there's extra soot in the oil..and I just leak a bunch of it

seriously though: you can run dino oil 7,500 miles easy in your diesel with no worries. Some even run longer than that.

I run Amsoil synthetic, so I can go to 20k miles easy, but I choose not to.

Unlike gasoline engines, diesel engines take 3x as long or more to break down their oil. sure it gets a lot of soot in the oil, but soot doesn't hurt anything or break down lubricity. Diesel itself is like an oil as well. Now gasoline on the other hand is like a solvent and it quickly breaks down oil lubricity which is why you should change oil more often in a gasser.

Now in my S10, I change every 3k-5k and just run castrol GTX in that thing. It has a throw away motor as far as I'm concerned... (2.5L 4-banger) I'm not going to abuse the motor to kill it faster (by not changing oil,) but I'm also not going to spend extra money on synthetic oil for it either. When it's engine dies it will either get a 4BT swap, or a 383 stroker swap.

Started it up, and it ran fine once it burned it off. Made a nice smoke show too.
Where on the can does it say to choke the engine out with SF? That's exactly what you don't want to do(can you say (hydrlock) A 1/3 of the can(slowly), shut motor off, wait a few minutes, start and let it burn off.

almost got hit by a stupid driver in a car that tried to take my lane without looking before he merged. my front tire was infront of his rear door...

had to slam on the brakes and move over the fog line and lay on the horn to avoid getting hit.

then the a-hole flips me off when I got in the other lane and passed him. wtf is wrong with people?!

so after he flips me off and I pass, he gets behind me flashing his high beams on and off at me riding my ***, so I had enough of that, cranked the power to max and floored it. completely blacked out the road and his headlights behind me and hit triple digit speeds in about 2 seconds...needless to say he couldn't keep up... held about 90+ for a good 5 minutes just to get away from the psychopath and put a good distance between us as I did not want a crazy following me home.
