or you could even go to manual kicking hubs! supposedly you can use old ford parts

of course all this is more expensive and time consuming
I like the cad though..... (please don't shoot me. )

I had seriously considered the manual hub conversion, if I could find parts locally in a yard, I would jump on it. I would still leave the cad though, and use the "full time" style hubs. (no little handle, just always locked in.) I may still do that. I like the thought of 2 Lo.

yeah, no reason to get rid of the CAD... I have a posi-lok cable on my truck and it works great! never had a 4x4 failure with it. even when my vacuum was leaking like crazy I still had 4x4 on demand. no getting out to lock hubs. just shift the case and spin the **** (or push the release and pull it)

having low range 2x4 is great for backing up trailers too! (shift xfer case to 4-low but don't engage the front axle = 2 low )

That 2-low IS awesome! Backing up trailers, around the farm, etc.

Got the Dodge stuck again today, gonna have to check out what went wrong with my DIY posi-lok when it gets warmer out, until then I may just lock the fork in the engaged position...

But I did manage to get out without being pulled out lol...

Exact same parts as what he's got.

I think I've got too many bends, need to re-route the cable...

I am tempted to set it up to use compressed air to actuate the CAD motor, I tried it in the shop and 2-3PSI is more than enough to move the motor... But I don't have onboard air.

Would run into the same problems with the vacuum system. I want the direct mechanical linkage.

exactly!!

what's the point of deleting the vacuum just to replace with compressed air?! its basically the same damn thing just reversed air flow and more unnecessary components!

techjockey quit being a damn cheap skate and go get a real posi-lok system!

works perfect right out of the gate and continues to work perfect!

Installed the Timbren system on the rear of my truck. Only stopped twice to warm my fingers up.

One of the reasons I'm down here and not in the north anymore. About 60* right now, mid 70*s tomorrow.
Cold has always bothered my fingers, feet can go numb up to my knees, not a problem, fingers are another story.

correction: 44* right now, 60* later, eyes musta been crossed when I looked at the thermometer.
