I really need to get around to putting in a new axle seal.
The drivers side is the one that is bad. Do you need an axle seal installer tool or is there another way that isn't so expensive?

you can use a 1 3/4" socket and a hammer to drive the new seal in. there isn't a stop for that seal so you will have to measure the distance from the old one to the outside of the axle tube first so you won't drive it too far in.
go by these and you won't have any trouble.

don't forget to use penetrating fluid on the hub nuts (1 11/16") and bolts (14mm 12 point).
pull the caliper mounting brackets off (21mm bolts) with the calipers attached and hang them from the shock towers with rope.
check out the u joints while you have the axles out.
pull the intermediate shaft out of the carrier or it will never come out.
and lube all contact points on the hubs with anti-seize before reassembly.
oh, and make sure you have a 3/4" drive breaker bar with a cheater pipe before taking the hub nuts off. and have a torque wrench that will go over 180 ft-lbs.
transmission troubles all day had to change the converter back to stock
the better then stock one trashed. it was shifting funny checked and cleaned grounds first but no luck. i changed trans fluid a few weeks ago to transyn that my have had something to do with it but I don't know more in my transmission problems post
