Left rear caliper froze on me. Was at the taco bell drive thru and noticed an intense brake smell. I thought it was the jeep in front of me till I got home and smelled it again.

Nice easy fix and bled all four corner to flush and fill the system with new fluid.

I found ONE little chunk of metal..... Not sure how I feel about that....

A los discovered I have a pinion seal leaking in my rear axle.... Bleh

Do they stock pinion but and seal at local auto stores? I'm not holding out hope.... I'll just top it back off and keep an eye on it

Can pinion bearings cause weird vibes at 70ish mph?
Worn out pinion bearings will cause weird vibrations at about 65-70MPH. Don't run it too long like that or it could cause a lot more damage.

Many auto parts stores sell new pinion nuts and seals but note that you have to be able to set preload and backlash. You can't just re use what preload and backlash is set in there right now. In the old Fords world they use crush sleeves which are more than obnoxious, and I believe our 2nd genners use shims but don't quote me... If they do use a crush sleeve you're in for one hell of an experience trying to tighten it.

If you're pinion seal is leaking and the bearings are worn I'd personally just rebuild the axle. I've seen pinion nuts work loose and cause the seal to go (and the bearings). So be sure to check the pinion shaft for damage and excessive free play...

The 9.25 uses a crush sleeve but the Dana axles use solid shims to set the pre load so it is easy to change the seal without having to mess with anything else. Assuming the pinion bearings aren't shot to hell.

Pinion seal leaks can look a lot worse than they really are. With the yoke spinning anytime you're moving even small amounts of oil can look like a lot more.

Drove it for the first time in over 2 weeks, then chopped off a length of the existing pipe before the new muffler and put it back on, now have a tailpipe again, no more clouds forming under the bed and trying to kill me or the people behind it lol. Lots of snow and ice here, so I got to use 4x4 on some hill starts; stupid traffic lights
